  1. About the role

    Work with village councils, Biodiversity Management Committees, and CCA committees across the seven ranges of Tseminyu to plan, document, and monitor community conserved forest. You will spend most weeks in villages and report to the Operational Director.

    What you will do
    • Convene and support village conservation committees and management-plan reviews
    • Run biodiversity documentation with communities: camera traps, transects, People’s Biodiversity Registers
    • Coordinate the district conservation plan with the Rengma Village Council Chairman Forum
    • Keep field records, maps, and photographs that the team can build on
    What you bring
    • Three or more years of field work with rural or Indigenous communities, ideally in the Northeast
    • Working knowledge of Nagamese; Rengma or another Naga language is an advantage
    • Comfort with GPS, basic GIS, and long days on foot
    • A degree in ecology, forestry, social work, development, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  2. About the role

    Tell the story of the work as it happens: field reports, photographs, short films, annual reports, and the website. You will work with every programme and with the Zunpha cooperative’s enterprise units.

    • Write and edit reports, case studies, and grant narratives
    • Photograph and film field work; maintain the Foundation’s media archive
    • Keep the website, newsletter, and social channels current
    • Support partners and press with material about Kenono
    What you bring
    • Two or more years in communications, journalism, or documentation
    • Strong written English; Nagamese or a Naga language is an advantage
    • Photography and basic video editing
    • Willingness to travel to villages across the district
  3. About the role

    Raise native keystone species in community nurseries and support planting along the district biodiversity corridor with village teams and the TERI partnership.

    What you will do
    • Run seed collection, germination, and nursery care for native species
    • Lay out and supervise planting sites, gap filling, and soil and water conservation
    • Train village nursery keepers and keep survival records
    • Support the land-mapping work of the restoration programme
    What you bring
    • Hands-on experience in nurseries, forestry, or farming
    • Knowledge of local tree species and seasons
    • A diploma or degree in forestry, horticulture, or agriculture, or equivalent experience
    • A two-wheeler licence is useful
Internships at Kenono

Two to six months in the field.

Internships run across every initiative: biodiversity documentation and camera-trap monitoring in the Community Conserved Areas (CCAs), biodiversity education at the Sendenyu centre, restoration nurseries, and research and documentation with the Rengma community.

  • Who Students and recent graduates in ecology, forestry, development, design, business, or media; young people from Nagaland are especially encouraged.
  • Where Zunpha and the villages of Tseminyu District; some placements at Sendenyu.
  • Support A field stipend, shared accommodation, and a mentor on the team. Travel to Nagaland is at your own cost.
  • Intake Applications are read year round; most placements start in March, June, and October.

Fellowships at Zunpha

Bring a skill the cooperative needs.

The Zunpha Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. runs five community-owned enterprise units and employs more than 47 women and young people. Fellows spend three to twelve months embedded in one unit, building something that stays after they leave: a product line, a costing system, a market link, a training programme.

  • Units Garments, printing and design, poultry, custom hiring and machinery, carpentry, and the coffee value chain.
  • Who Professionals and postgraduates in design, finance, operations, agronomy, marketing, or engineering, with at least two years of experience.
  • Support A monthly fellowship stipend, accommodation in Tseminyu Town, and a counterpart from the cooperative.

Field research and theses

Masters and doctoral students can base field work in the CCAs, at Sendenyu or with the cooperative, under a research agreement with the village concerned. Write with a one-page proposal.

Short volunteer weeks run during the monsoon planting season and the Youth Biodiversity Fest at Sendenyu. No experience needed, only a willingness to work outdoors.
